What if an individual resigned from Mesa back in, say, 2018 or so?

Would that person qualify for this program?

Has anyone defined yet how far back this offer goes?

There's an older thread about life as a new Mesa pilot.

Mesa Pilot Applicants (Helpful)

Is most of this information still accurate? I know pay has changed considerably but what about other QOL issues? Any insights for a guy considering switching to airlines?

Thanks.

Interview to showing up at the front door

Accurate. It's just a Microsoft Teams virtual interview.

First Day at Mesa

Accurate for the most part. But now your seniority / DOH begins the day you show up, not two days later.

Ground School/Simulator training

1 week INDOC with an easy test
Wouldn't call the test easy (it was easy before, not anymore) but just pay attention in class and study and you'll be fine.

2 weeks Systems with test
Wouldn't call the test easy as well. It also used to be easy, not anymore, as they've changed all tests. But just pay attention in class and stufy and you'll be fine.

3-4 days FPT's with practical test
Its actually 2 days in class, then 3 days in a touch screen sim, with an evaluation in the end. The evaluation is not looking for perfection at all. They are just seeing if you know your basic stuff before throwing you in the Sims which is costly.

12 ish SIMS with checkride and oral

Its actually only 9 Sims, 18 hours actually allotted to you to fly (and another 18 you can observe your partner/act as seat support). The 10th is the checkride. Yes he is right, sim schedules are all over the place. You might wake up 10am one day, and then 2:30am the next. Your body has to adapt quick. This is every airline tho, not just Mesa. His statement about military guys is completely wrong, they are the ones who do worse. Especially helicopter guys.

Oral is OK just know your stuff.
Sim checkride is okay, just know your stuff.

Everything just comes down to KNOWING YOUR STUFF and studying.

So does the 300% apply trying to pick up after it goes effective with new rates?

Congrats guys. Mesa is now ON TOP.

Other regionals cannot afford to be picky anymore. Republic is now the lowest paying airline, followed by skywest with just a dollar more. Even endeavor is a crap paying airline now.

I never thought I'd see this day, but those airlines who were once prestigious, are now the bottom of the barell trash airlines. The ONLY thing they (endeavor, and republic) have going on for them is the excellent quality of training, but even Mesa matches them in terms of excellent instructors and high pass rates. CRJ Examiners at Mesa are also friendly and great.

Great job, I Love Mesa! I joined because they were the only people who gave me a chance after some checkride fails in my life. I owe it to Mesa big time. Great people to work with as well! From the pilots, to examiners, to instructors, to the interviewer (Garrett), and everyone at the training center, fantastic people.

Really happy to hear this news!

You seem like the kind of guy that says “I fly by the book and if you see something say something” on day 1 leg 1 then proceed to fly like you’ve never touched the plane before and then rag on the FO for every minuscule mistake for the next 4 days. Mesa had a huge win for the pilots and everyone should be happy.

Seniority only restored if you left after 6/15/2022. You can come back but at the bottom If you left before that date.

Typically we lose 300pct in September every year. It’ll take a while to refill the ranks so I expect 300 or 200 pct to continue and to reappear at the traditional times - summer and holidays. What did end is commuter hotels. Those end 9/15.

The work rules are in some respects better than other airlines. When properly staffed the trip trade ability is on a par with any airline. Even this month I swapped things around with a red grid to get the time off I want. Junior assignment is voluntary. No where else has this. We get paid credit hours (1/2 of the shift length. A 10 hour ready shift pays 5 hours) and per diem while sitting ready reserve. I know of no other airline that does this. There are limits on reserve shifts on the last day of a set of reserve days. Full disclosure. These rules have been violated by the company and there are ongoing grievances.

When staffing is adequate things are great. When it’s poor the rules are trampled.
