Mesa 4.0 what’s the latest

I heard ERJ chief is teaching the FPT now. I'm going to stop by at the Training Center to get some info soon. My buddies from October 2021 class are called back, but not the entire class. Training department also started a volunteer ready pool for those from later classes to fill in spots for unavailable folks. If someone doesn't make it back on time, say from the October class, training folks will use the ready pool and bring in folks from later classes. I know one guy from late November 2021 also got called back so he could be filling in from the ready pool.

Smart they started that pool. It’s a shame the backlog continues to grow as it has. Every month the footprint seems to grow a month. The larger January class will probably not be finished this year if things don’t change in a hurry.

You get an invite from United when you are hired with their Aviate regionals. You fly for 24 months 2000 hours and meet their performance criteria, when your seniority comes up, United does a background check and invite you to class. They can also only pull so many from each regional per year, that could be the "catch". Also no 121 checkride failures for the past 5 years before being called to United.

Is there a downside to picking the CRJ vs 175
Why is the CRJ so open? Any downside to picking the CRJ? I just want to get started and build the 2000 hours in hope to move forward to the legacy airlines or something like Spirit.

no downside besides aviate which atm is useless. Much much faster time to get on the line from DOH.

I guess because people are idiots? Why anyone would want to sit and wait for training in this environment is beyond me. In 9-12 months you could have your name in the hat for left seat and be well on your way for whatever is next. My pals are all flying 90+ hrs per month on CRJ. Pay is well below market and there is zero process in place for many basics, but you’ll fly. Get typed expeditiously and build a bunch of time, and move along.

Thanks. I decided to just go that route for the hopeful Dallas base. I agree to get what I need and move forward. Do legacy airlines care what regional you work for at this point in time?

No unless it's one of their Wholly Owned. They don't want to take pilots away from their own operation other than by the normal flow. You have a much better chance of getting on with legacy not affiliated with the regional you fly for.
