Staffing issues, MX issues (both nothing new although worse then what it used to be), inept management (welcome to the airlines), American contractor up in the air with our abysmal performance numbers, CRJ fleet shrinkage, and contract still being a year out from being voted on. Go somewhere else and enjoy the ride.

Mgmt will have to show they are fixing the problem by agreeing to a more competitive hourly rate across the board. New hire bonuses will only get you so far. It’s a clear obvious answer…you don’t need an MBA to figure it out

Mesa is on par, at least, with other regionals. As long as we keep getting paid, we are ok. One thing that has been keeping me up at night is the thought of what could happen after Doug Parker leaves American Airlines next spring. I’m hoping Mesa will really spit shine our shoes for us and show that we can handle anything thrown at us; I fully believe we can.
I have the utmost faith in this company. I have been around for a while, seen the challenges we have faced, and have seen how we overcame them. Every. Single. Time.
Mesa’s new company phrase should be a singular word, a buzz word, if you will:
Perseverance.

All of your reasons are perfect. We have more flying than most other regionals because of our reputation, have solidified ourselves into being the absolute top slot for Aviate, our upgrade times are absolutely astonishing and company atmosphere, morale and quality of our pilots are on par with some of the legacy carriers. You are setting yourself up for a bright future, my friend. Mesa is the answer to all of your problems. And when the time comes, if you wish to part ways, legacy recruitment around the globe knows the pure value of any Mesa pilot. We have one of the best training programs and highest quality aviators in all of the aviation world. Welcome aboard, Mesa brethren!

Maybe this is out there and I don’t have any idea what I’m talking about but it makes sense to me. If I’m the big boss and I think we’re definitely losing the AA contract, the first thing that comes to my mind is that we’re hosed bc we’ll be ridiculously overstaffed - mass layoffs, retraining, company paid moves and on and on. Or, you could just the whole thing burn on the AA side, watch the mass exodus happen as most of your people leave for other airlines, and intentionally do little to nothing to attract new hires. Fly the 175 for United, 73 for DHL and lease out the rest of your aircraft to some startup in Europe. And you still have a cheap underpaid and smaller pilot group. I’m sure there’s a lot wrong with this theory so flame away but sounds right up Mesa’s alley.

AA is paying for new interiors and "proper" USB installations. They are not going to remove Mesa. The struggles are at every regional. Only Republic has any excess capacity and it's going away soon as well. The CRJ's are not going anywhere and MIGHT actually increase after we get through the parts and staffing difficulties both of which are temporary issues. This is a bad look because of the timing but it's probably not going to result in the loss of the CPA. Worst case we lose 20 - then retrain people on the E-Jet - the company only has to pay relocation for involuntary displacement - to get what I want I'll mark voluntary and get it.

Mesa has always staffed lean. They will be among the first regionals to falter with the industry-wide recruit/retain issues.
Kirby’s recent cranky-flier interview is instructive. “Our regionals can’t staff all the flying so we just take what they can give” is basically what he said.
gonna get much worse next month as aa/ua/dl all running 4 big classes
