The approach plates for ILS 8L, 26R and 27 into IAH do not have the CAT I mins printed on them. To find them, you have to go to 51-1 "Additional Landing Minima." That chart is not grouped with the approaches; it is in the "Other" category. Not sure who thought that was a good idea, but there it is.

So, we just need to have everyone ask for a company iPad when at or below 50% (rather than breaking a FAR by using a personal battery) and we will be taken off the trip after about the third leg (if not sooner in daylight mode) and the flight cancelled because of a lack of reserves. That will really sit well with our partners.

FAR 119.5
(l) No person may operate an aircraft under this part, part 121 of this chapter, or part 135 of this chapter in violation of an air carrier operation certificate, operating certificate, or appropriate operations specifications issued under this part.

119 states that the rules approved in the GOM and CFM have the authority of being a regulation. If you think you can use a personal battery in the Mesa cockpit legally, just call the FSDO. Or, better yet, start using them with a line check airman or FAA observer in the jumpseat.

Wtf are you doing with the charts? Taxi out is your biggest exposure to battery drain. Because you have to have the taxi diagram up. Enroute turn off the display. Seriously - I can do a 5 leg trip using the jepps and end with 60 pct battery life.

Going into MTY the other day we were assigned VOR/DME-2 for 11. I was comparing these POSs to Jepp. None of the individual waypoints on the DME arc are actually labeled on the chart, yet they’re labeled on Jepps. They are in the FMS too. But hey, it’s not all that important for the approach plate to be labeled half way correctly........
