acl65pilot,

Just so I understand. You are not sure the NWA 747-400 fleet manager would know the mid-term plans, or, if he did, he would be bound not to discuss them, but you DO know the plans AND have no problems disclosing them.

Just who ARE you?

OK Dude,
I usually don't get involved with this discussion, but I must call BS when I see it. Mother ALPAs roll over to the unopposed increase in retirement age screwed us young pups. I talked to numerous "experienced" pilots who said "I may work a year or two past 60" and again, I call BS. They'll work till death if able. All I can say is as I approach my golden years I hope to have a hobby and not be like these guys: slugging it out until 65 because their life at work IS their hobby. Not to mention these guys are a pain in the ..s to work with.

Yea I'm a cranky young bastard. Only difference is I see it for what it is, a job. It's sad to see all of you fight over stupid stuff. You want our relative seniority numbers? Fine, give us your DB plan. I don't think ANYONE on the DAL side will reject that offer. They will probably be gone and leave you stuck in their wake turbulence.

Nice post. BTW, "beer to drink?" Are we long lost brothers?

That is a classic scene and, along with many others, is why I chose this "screen name." This is the first character I've seen since the original Star Trek that I've enjoyed watching Shatner in. IMO he owns Boston Legal.

Denny
I agree with you. I have extreme "screen name" envy!

Does not matter who I am. I am not bound by a non-disclosure on this issue, he would be. Lots of people are bound by non-disclosure currently. This I know. Fact is that if you ask the correct questions you will get the correct answers.

I know for fact that there are non-disclosures that have been signed for some of the future fleet plans. Those are difficult to discuss. Also of note, the union leadership is bound by these same non-disclosures.

Why would I do that Pineapple? What would any of OUR R&I guys know compared to a Delta line pilot? Besides...any facts from the NWA team wouldn't fit the template of NWA sucks and DAL rocks.

Last try on this subject: I don't know anything about your plan, I'll take your word for what you say as accurate. But in the NWA plan it is almost the same as your plan except this point. Ready: Everything stopped increasing except your ability to work your way up to 25 years so that you weren't penalized.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled program: "NWA sucks and Delta rocks...starring Pineapple"

Total speculation on your part. My "bet" is that you're a line pilot who has no idea of what RA really thinks.

Why do most DAL pilots love to beat the drum the -400 is leaving?
Because it's crucial to their argument of NWA accepting the extreme proposal for an SLI. NWA sucks and all its pilots are lucky to even have a job with the new Delta. Same for the drum beat of the DC-9's all leaving. Same for having to fund a massively undefunded pension plan, etc. The facts don't matter. It doesn't even matter that the arbitrators feel that this is a merger of equals and that neither company is saving the other.

Why would anyone listen to the 747-400 fleet manager when you can listen to a new hire DAL line pilot with deep connections to Richard Anderson's janitor?

Fair enough. But your source certainly is. He's got awfully loose lips, and better be careful. You'd be amazed at where innocent postings on a webboard can end up.

Doesn't matter what you or I think. The stats are what they are. Voluntary or forced medical retirement will happen by 62 on average. In the special case of NWA, we actually lose money by working past 60 due to the frozen pension rules. When I was a young pup like you, I thought I'd work til death as well. Now that I'm 52, there's no possibility of me working past 60 unless my pension is terminated - no way. But again, I don't even control that - my health does.

I agree with you there. Since age 65 was adopted, NWA has seen no change to the number of early retirements, they're still as strong as ever. I know of very very few that are staying past 60, and all of those guys are the types you describe above.

I would be willing to bet NOBODY on the DAL side would take that offer. Our DB plan can be wiped out with the next bankruptcy...a seniority number cannot.
