The truth about LOA 19 finally surfaces

Better check that one with your R&I guys, Carl. When our plan was hard frozen, everything stopped increasing.

The replacement for the 747-400 is the 777-300ER.My money says DL converts the first NW 787-800 orders to the 777's. RA is on record saying he thinks the 787-800 is an under performer but he likes the -900.

If there are fences as part of the arbitrated/negotiated seniority list and an aircraft type that is protected by a fence is retired, what happens to those pilots protected by that fence?
For example: DAL decides to retire the 747-400. The NWA pilots who are on that aircraft, and protected by the fence, have no aircraft. They can't go to the 777 because (I assume) that would be fenced too. Same with the 767-400. So they displace to the A-330 and those pilots displace the DAL 767-ER guys not protected by a fence. That strikes me as a bad deal (unfair) to the mid-seniority DAL pilots on the ER.
Or would it work differently?
Why are the DAL 767 aircraft (a widebody) not fenced, yet all the NWA widebodies are fenced?

I think fairness would say the 777-300ER's would be flown by NW pilots as DL would be converting NW orders to get those airframes. There is also a strong possibility that the 787 will be a common category with the 777,a 5 day differences course.I think these are some of the reasons DL is against fences. What a goat rope this could turn into.Let's hope for a negotiated list that addresses all the issues for ALL DL pilots.

Yes, and RA will not even hint at doing any hiring or whatnot until after DCC.
Yes, we are looking at 2010 for the departure of the 744 and DC-9's. This is part of DAL's fleet plan assuming the merger is completed. They are giving us the answers here in Georgia and that is why there needs to be protection for the bottom of the list. I know you do not like it, but as of today these are the facts.

The 777-300ER is the replacement for the -400,when this happens has yet to be determined but it could start to happen as early as 2010 all depending on when DL could get the 777's delivered.

I am not sure that the fleet manager would know the mid-term plans, yet. Even if he did, he would be bound not to discuss them, as it is conjure to discuss anything that would be the decision of Delta, post DCC.

I have held this position at another airline during a merger and at least there the position was very informed as to where the fleet was going..... What he said had absolutely nothing that he would be bound not to disclose. Using your logic the DAL managers saying the -400 will be gone would be a breach of disclosure. Why do most DAL pilots love to beat the drum the -400 is leaving?
