Default Job Fairs for Legacy Airlines Obsolete?

Is there any reason to spend a a good chunk of money and time to attend and talk to a recruiter at UAL, DAL, AMR, SWA, ALK, UPS and FDX anymore? It is quite obvious that the recruiting algorithms are choosing who to call for an interview regardless as to whether the recruiter likes your background or not. Reading all these posts over the years and hearing it myself that the computer has to pick you why should anyone that is out of the parameters attend? Has anyone that is mediocre get an interview out of attending one?

It's important that you sit at attention at the edge of your seat when you get your two minutes of face time.

It's pathetic the level of humiliation some people will subject themselves to in order to get a JOB. Sheeple standing in line for hours for a chance to have your resume "blessed" by the almighty recruiter.

Let us hope that one day they will become a thing of the far distant past where pilots would not have to wait for hours in line and spend hundreds of dollars so that they could earn five minutes of meager time with a recruiter who has already written 95% of us off within three seconds of seeing us.

Why all the suits? I thought people are supposed to dress more casual.

Do you REALLY believe that "computer algorithms" are the *sole* determining factor for who gets called for an interview, completely devoid of human input?

FWIW going to a job fair definitely gets your app reviewed and scored by Delta. I attended the OBAP fair this month and two weeks later (In line with what the recruiter told me) my app was pulled and looked at. Received a "fix it" email from Delta for a small oversight. We'll see if it turns into an interview or not, but it did at least get my application looked at.

It's the new generation of kids wanting immediate gratification. It's just a job fair, they don't owe you anything. I can't believe how many people I've talked to who give up just because nobody called them and they had to waste money, they even get insulted. Contrary to what your parents told you, you're not that special, get in line with the others and earn the job, it's not going to fall on your lap just because you spend 100 dollars on a job fair.

Wow, I have never been to a job fair so I've never actually seen what it's like. That is sad really. Sheeple wasting precious hours and days of lifetime chasing the almighty dollar. Life is short, I'd rather go travel somewhere cool on my days off and work somewhere other than Delta.

If life is so short and time is so precious, what are you doing reading an airline pilot internet forum? Shouldn't you be sky diving, Rocky Mountain climbing and going 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Manchu??

P.S. I went to your profile just to see how active you were on here and it said you were viewing "Delta Hiring News". Ironic?

Hopefully the guys touting their 'pride' refuse to go to job fairs.

Why do something that is known to improve the odds? Only a fool would do that.

I enjoy the B.S. opinions(eg. written off 95%). Before posting them have you actually asked how the program works? The success rate of job fair attendees vs guys who didn't?
