Talk about your revisionist history. I call B.S. on this one. The Homeland Security Act passed unanimously -1 vote. Nice try, though.

The TSA was created by the Transportation Security Act on November 19, 2001. The Homeland Security Act was signed a year later in November of 2002.

The Republicans did not want to federalize the screening. The compromise was to include the provision for airports to opt-out of the government screening and use private screening companies that screen to the new standards. SFO and MCI were the two largest airports which initially setup with private screeners. The Republicans intended for the use of private screening to significantly expand in the years following 2001 but that hasn't happened.

Meh. It's our fault in the end. If the sheeple had any guts, we'd put an end to this crap a long time ago. Now people are indoctrinated that groping grandma is just another part of "keeping us safe."

Who would want to be a TSA screener anyway? No wonder they have high turnover. And what happened to some of the x-ray scanners that have the ramped rollers for the tubs to just to roll back down to the beginning? I thought that was the coolest thing since sliced bread. That would certainly help with eliminating a few tub stackers. Or the other machine I saw the had a conveyer on the bottom of the x-ray scanner. I thought these things would be wide spread by now, but I guess that would make too much sense. I guess all the money went to the backscatter machines that were ripped out a short while later.

Then there is KCM. I now see signs on their website that says if they are too busy, we'll have to get screened. I went through KCM the other day and the guy was ****ed that he had to keep coming out to the computer to let crew in. After I went through, he informed the door guard that he was closing KCM. All other crew was to get screened.
