Realistic First/Second Year Pay
#41
FedEx pilots are ****ed we passed our last contract. When senior guys are flying carry over and getting 120-140 hrs a month while they expect everyone else to pass up a draft trip to put pressure on the company. You have your answer. $486K during contract negotiations, I know whose team you are on, your own team.

I'm not on the 777, I don't feel like I can judge people. They have many lines with carryover, they make more than the other airplanes because of the international and the other pay issues. I think last year a 777 Capt could make that without working extra, no problem. I don't think you can make assumptions.

I don't see how it's worth it to do the expat thing though unless you really like it over there. A 10 year 777/747 FO at UAL makes 240K as a line holder with 19 days off a month. No housing allowance needed and that doesn't include the 40K the company puts in the B fund. It all depends what you like I guess.

This is a nice sentiment if you're reading this straight off the pay scale, but the reality is that you can't even sniff the FO seat in either of those pieces of equipment after 10 years. I'm at AA and it's the same story, save for a few outliers the right seat of our 777/787s are all guys that could be senior NB captains and the majority are top 20% on the seniority list. I talked to a 25 year UAL 737 CA that said he'd love to go 747, but isn't even close. So it's easy to try to compare the pay rates, but it's not always an option.

[QUOTE=UALfoLIFE;2127215]The junior people on the 87/77 at UAL in SFO/EWR are 3-4 years currently and those times will probably drop with the planned WB dilervery schedule.[/QUOTE
I know it's going away but how about the Whale?

Ah, well it must be the 747 that's so senior. Our 777/787 FO slots are super senior and mostly guys hired in the 1980s riding the 9 day a month schedules into retirement.
