Seems like we will know next week, at the earliest.

Oh geez. If it has to be, please let it be JetBlue. Closest model match, and "easiest" of ANY integration option. Most senior JetBlue guys circa 1999/2000, VX is ~ 2006/2007. No widebodies. Closest career expectations. Would make it the 5 largest airline after the 3 legacy airlines and Southwest.

Yeah. I'm not sure. They are already mostly a west coast airline, with ETOPs, and Hawaii service. JetBlue doesn't have those things so I think a better argument could be for jetblue. But it's aviation, so who knows. Could be Alaska's way to take out one competitor and get Delta to back down their potential takeover talks of Alaska.

Defending it's West Coast turf from the hoards. Increasing the market presence of another LCC like JB (the most likely winner) in big California airports like LAX and SFO won't help Alaska's ability to compete. JB can offer so many connections beyond California that VA could never offer. The routes between JB and VA are truly complementary beyond the milk-run NYC/BOS-LA and NYC/BOS-SFO routes. It makes a lot of sense.

Maybe it's just a strategic move to drive up the price for a competitor's eventual successful acquisition of VA.

Remember the bidding war for Midwest (and how that worked out in the end)?

No offense to the VA guys but as a JB guy I want no part of this.

They get more access to JFK from the west coast, purely to spite Delta😝

Agreed. I hope it's alaska just for the routes and they return the aircraft and we can grab their future orders
