Not if you compare market cap. To grow significantly on the west coast for JB just got a whole lot more difficult. You may in time do it "organically", but how long will it take and where will you do it?

Umm, market cap is stock price. When American Airlines pink sheets were 40 cents a share was Jetblue bigger?

LGB could be doing a lot better for us if the locals would let us use it. They are an unforseen nightmare. That said we recently gained some slots due to a technicality in the law and immediately saw growth. Also we are trying to build a new international terminal there as soon as we can (and should) clear the roadblocks the residents have put up. I'm from LA originally, let me assure you there is plenty of demand for an airport other than LAX.
Not to worry though; now that LUV's moving into LGB, you guys can share slots with them. Looking at the awards for the latest 9 slots, I'd imagine that LUV would get 2/3s of new slots for quite a while.
IF JBLU really wants to expand somewhere other than LAX, ONT is extremely underutilized. Lots of excess capacity and the locals would probably welcome JBLU with open arms. But you won't get the same yields there as you would out of LAX.

Unforseen nightmare? That's known as not doing your homework. Seriously, it would have been easy to canvass locals to find out how they'd feel about increased flights out of LGB.

I don't know about that. Is LUV building a new terminal there? IS LUV going to make LGB it's focus? Or are they just there to stifle us because they saw what happened in JFK and FLL? Time will tell, but if you don't really care about an airport it'll be the first to go when things get rocky.

The terminal in LGB looks like it's been funded by GARB and PFC, not by JetBlue so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. http://www.lgb.org/civicax/filebank/...px?BlobID=2670
As far as JBLU complaining about LGB resistance to more flights, JBLU isn't even utilizing all of its slots now. How exactly is that constraining JBLU?
The Airline cost per passenger for FY 16 will increase over FY 15 due to an airline rate increase at the
beginning of FY 16. JetBlue’s under-utilization of its slots continue to negatively impacted airport revenues
by reducing airline fees collected and driving down parking, ground transportation and concession revenues.
At this time, JetBlue has no intentions of increasing its number of flights except for modest increases for a
couple of the summer months.http://www.longbeach.gov/Finance/Med...17-LB-Airport/
Wonder why JBLU's hated by LGB residents? Because they don't follow the rules. LB4D:Long Beach 4th District BLOG: JetBlue noise violations up 500%

Jetblue growing organicly. No way can they make LGB a super hub. Anybody who wants to grow in the west it's LAX, SFO, or SEA. Anything else is just wasting time. Jetblue missed the boat with VA and they only put out that email to save face.
