In regards to SLI that has yet to happen, it cracks me up that folks are already bickering over something that no line pilot has control over. Wake the f-up and grow up because we're all in this together. Management must be laughing all the way to the bank!

And then the new parent company will spin off a new subsidiary airline to fly smaller jets with a new seniority list when the stapled pilots don't agree on a pay scale. The new airline will be called.....FreedomJets.

I'm a JetBlue E190 guy, probably a little shy of upgrade being a late 2013 hire. I have never been through a merger. I have seen compelling cases made for both DOH and Relative integration methods, and I can honestly say I don't know which is better or more equitable. I do however think we need to choose one that is as impartial as possible.
If this thing happens I'm going from a career expectation of Airbus Captain someday with the possibility of maybe getting wide bodies down the road, to an expectation of airbus captain and maybe getting wide bodies down the road. Seems little changes. It also seems fleet size will likely grow proportionally so not much relative displacement. I could be wrong but this makes sense to me.
The bickering we have seen in past mergers has only weakened the respective pilot groups. Assuming we do merge, it seems we can only be a stronger carrier by unifying as quickly as possible and getting the best contract we can.
Frankly, I think JB and VA make the most sense out of all the options and only strengthens both groups. I sincerely hope we can rise above the pettiness in order to work out what are valid issues in a way that moves us all toward a better career in general.
