Maybe they know it's gonna be FUBARed and don't want any of us commuting on them and not making a sign in. Cause you know it's gonna be a mess. They all were.

One thing to think about is if there is this much confusion already wait until you actually get to the gate. What will be the gate agents interpretation of the current status. And are you going to get into an argument trying to convince her/him that you are actually able to JS if that's the case?

APA j/s committee

Any way to get an official email sent to all J/S committee chairs to distribute to membership to have in hand for the "just in case" confusion/unwillingness of gate agents to comply with J/S requests that day? Something from Company AND APA?

I checked with the DAL Jumpseat people to get this clarified. They stated they had a letter in hand from the American JS committee stating the jump seat will not be available 16 to 20 Oct.

I guess I misunderstood aa73's comment. I thought he was saying he was on the Jumpseat committee for AA and could offer legitimate information on the subject.

aa73??

JetBlue J/S committee has been informed jumpseating is allowed those dates, but to expect difficulty. Similar to what AA73 posted.

We were told at Spirit the jumpseat would be available but to expect headaches and plan accordingly.

To elaborate, the APA folks were asked by their leadership to do a visual sweep of the boarding area to maximize chances that j/s riders dont get left behind. This was confirmed by a US air pilot. Class act move, IMO.

Also, they still want you to list on myIDtravel if you hope to j/s.

This is what was published, everyone is confused.

Jumpseat Alert: American Airlines
On October 17, 2015, American Airlines will begin a complete reservation system change. The airline has issued an embargo on guest travel passes for five days: Friday, October 16 through Tuesday, October 20.

We strongly suggest that other airline pilots avoid jumpseat travel on American Airlines during those five days. That may not be possible for everyone, so we have issued proactive guidance to all American Airlines pilots.

We have requested that they look for other airline pilots in our terminals and to approach them and offer assistance. Also, we have asked them to check their flight’s standby list a few minutes before departure to ensure there are no other airline pilots attempting travel who have not been issued a seat. And most importantly, we have asked them to not leave a fellow professional aviator behind.

For those who must jumpseat travel on American Airlines during those five days, please ensure you have a listing made via myIDTravel in advance of your flight. Do not hesitate to reach out to any AA pilot in the terminal if you need help. We will do our best to get you on your flight.

Please let us know of any issues you encounter with jumpseat travel on American Airlines, good, bad, or otherwise at [email protected].

Yep. I try to do this anyway, but I'm telling everyone I know to be extra vigilant during this time. The gate agents can p!ss and moan all they want, but I'm not dropping the brake until everyone is on. Welcome aboard.
