Delta has advised pilots operating in Dakar to not stop at all once departing the the gate until airborne. Guess there are lots of folks looking for a better way of life and they literally end up coming out of the weeds........

I have flown with the captain from that flight. He told me that he is the only J31 (Jetstream) pilot to have a "confirmed kill". Nice, huh? He said that the guy had escaped from a nearby mental facility, was wearing goggles and a leather-type helmet. He also said the guy jumped on the horiz. stab. And, they didn't know about him falling off, until reaching MEM.
