Default Headset Repair / Overhaul

Anyone know anyone good?

Headset Dr.'s web site suggests that operation is no longer in business and internet forums report the cost to repair Sennheiser headsets is the same as just buying them new. Did a search here and the most recent post was 2011.

Anyone?

Thank You.

I think you can buy kits to refurbish them yourself, check that out. If it's Bose I know you can send it to them and they are not very expensive, at least they weren't for me.

Don't know about Sennheiser, but for Telex 850's get an RMA from Bosch and in less than a month for $169 they come back as new (which is just adequate, imo).

If repair was going to cost over 1/2 of full retail I'd take a hard look at the new ANR David Clark sets. A guy let me use his for a leg and they were outstanding.

Heyas Bar,

A few years ago, I want to say most, if not all, of the headset makers quit selling parts & repair manuals. They essentially "insourced" the repair business or limited it to a very few outfits.

My guess is that it was this that essentially put the mom-n-pop outfits out of business. Even if you had the parts, without the manuals, I don't believe you can't maintain the TSO on a repaired item. Doesn't matter for the GA folks, but stops it dead in the tracks for airline use. You basically have to pay their flat rate fee, or get a new one.

To be fair, most that I've seen come back in new condition.

These guys are worth a look too-- Headset & Helmet Repairs (Aviation, Radio, Fireman, Military)

I sent them a pair of Telex 850s and they diagnosed the problem for free and came back with an estimate for repair. They can fix broken wires and stuff really cheap, but mine was a broken mic, so I ended up using using Telex (or Bosch now) to make the repair because they do a full renovation.

Were the David Clarks the new Pro-X?
