No one is saying that. And properly designed fences would protect what you have, including your projected upgrades and prevent displacements out of your beloved bases. No one wants a land grab at what you have; all we want to make sure of is that another group doesn't get a relative integration windfall. All DL pilots would be against is a full relative where an AS pilot could then slide on over to larger DL equipment for life potentially many years ahead of existing DL pilots with similar longevity. That wouldn't be fair either. You wouldn't "salivate yourself to do such a thing to us", would you?

That said, its far more likely at this point that SW/AA/JB/combo of those 3 will be your eventual merger partner(s).

Not really though. DL is scrambling to build their SEA market from essentially a skeleton dot on the route map to a full fledged domestic and internation hub. Adding mainline sized planes to every single route on day one likely doens't make sense. AS has Horizon (and SkyWest, etc) afterall; they don't do it all themselves either.

Even half of 30 gates operated by RJ's is a huge influx of DL mainline both domestic and internationally.

Easy.

Let's look at the calculus.

The merging airlines will tell you the employee, the DOJ, and the politicians that:

1 + 1 = 2

In reality, and one of the many reasons why Wall Street likes mergers, the math looks like this:

1 + 1 = 1.5

Now, it should be crystal clear why the Delta and Northwest pilots don't want to see a merger with Alaska.

Organic growth is way better for us than a merger. Actually, I'd thank your CEO for his Emirates decision if I ever met him. It's working out fabulous for us pilots.

Yeah I hear YA...RA's tantrum is working out great for me too. Most hiring in 10 years, most aircraft orders in our history, best quarter in company history & highest stock price ever. You can shake his hand for me though as I have no desire.

Excellent, then: you're doing fine. We all want you to do fine, and keep doing fine at a separate airline. No one here wants your stuff, and you surely don't seem to want ours. Win-win.

As for your dismissal of what's happening in SEA as a tantrum, it's another win-win. If a tantrum means hundreds of extra flights for Delta pilots in a base where we haven't done enough of the flying, I hope for many more tantrums to come. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a tantrum in Amsterdam, and one in Charles-de-Gaulle.

As for withdrawing the handshake, I don't know RA, but I imagine he'll get over it.

We good, then?

Good. Great actually.

Then why would you even be the slightest concerned about seniority integration or fences if you actually didn't have some doubt as to how RA's "tantrum" is going to work out for you?

Bet that's a pretty dark place you don't want to explore, right.

Don't fret. If there is a merger, you'll still have every opportunity to fly your current jet. That is true with whomever might do the buying of Alaska.

Concern? Sure there's concern. Delta is a bohemith with an emotional bully at the controls, of course there's concern. I just hope they keep buying up Airbus made in France, ****ing on Boeing and Seattle & alienating 50% of its consumers for dipping in the political pool.

Laughable. Probably 95 % of the traveling public couldn't ID and pick out a Boeing or an Airbus if they were parked next to each other.

Most of the passengers think the RJ they get on are Delta jets and Boeings anyways.

News flash. They care about miles, frequent flier points, and, as we found out in Juno, and soon in Ketch and Sitka, price!

Told you last spring. PASI and PAKT were coming. Standby. There are more in the pipeline

Emotional bully? Nope. It's just business. But you call it what ever you want if it helps to keep you from having to go to that dark place.

Enlighten me... Where is the 787 manufactured? How about the new A321's we bought? Our 100 737-900's? How many total planes do you have? That's right, we still have more 737-900 and A321 orders, US made, than AS has total ships. How much is AS spending in 2015-2020?

Lastly, a bully? Seriously? Maybe he is old school and seems to think he who has the money to spend is in the drivers seat, not the ones selling. I surely treat my customers like they could go somewhere else. Maybe RA feels the same way I do about a bunch of former Douglas clowns knee deep in a peeing contest with their machinists. Last I read 1,400 787s for the program to break even. Admittedly, I am not overly impressed with the direction Boeing has gone since their President left for Ford (F).
