Consolation Bracket
Apparently some Navy guys don't like when you mess with their double breasted suits or insignia.

Great move if true. 2 more crews required, plus doubling of the -700 fleet. Hopefully that greases the skids to get more if there is a sudden need to replace DCI lift from the pilot shortage that's supposed to happen on 12-21-2012 or whatever.

Curious to hear from some of the old guys. The new ramp-up @ SEA looks pretty cool to me as a new hire; however, it's definitely got some risk associated with it too. Perhaps the past 10 years is a bad example since growth was pretty slow after 9/11, but in the last big boom how many times did DAL build a base quickly only to quietly scuttle it a few years later? I do not want to be a commuter out of SEA because the shiny new 737 base went bye-bye, nor do I want to move more than 1 time in the next 10 years. Thanks for reading.

We really haven't had a big boom with RA and this team at the helm. So no real way to compare. But if you don't want to move or commute then consider the bases that will never leave and you are unlikely to be displaced out of.
So in alphabetic order: Atlanta, NYC and Detroit.

LOL, well played.
Thanks, I was unaware of the history of SEA. Just need to convince the wife that a decent house in an awesome location is > than an awesome house in decent location.
Thanks. My 3 overnights in NYC on my first trip of OE have already convinced me of what I already knew, there's no way I'm ever moving to NYC. Ever.
SEA was a Northwest Airlines base and we've had it since I was a new hire over 30 years ago. It got bigger and smaller but always hung in there as a base. Today is a very different story though. SEA is key to our long term strategy in the Asia Pacific region. In my opinion, it's future as a base is as solid as ATL.
