So wait, who is the Evil Emperor in this analogy, and the rebel base? And who plays the part of the At At Walkers, Millennium Falcon, Darth Vader, X Wing Fighters, Yoda, Death Star, Admiral Ackbar, and Wikipedia is failing me now, what was the name of those fighter space ships with no shields... That'll be the 88.
I think we are going to have to have a draft.
And first up on the draft is us, because size, and select the Star Wars Bar Scene as Didyaknow... Also spelled Juno.

Wish I had brought my computer because I really want to see an At At with a Delta widget.

80kc, can you ask her to stop? I don't like it when she does, and she doesn't listen to me cuz she's so busy screaming ...
Fifi can't spell Juneau. Just flew thru Cordova, Yakutat, and Juneau tonight...last night....whew, was very interesting! Tomorrow flying thru southeast looks like it will be fun, too ... And without Mrs. 80kc!

So instead you give it all away to Virgin, Skywest and Compass! Oh, I get it ... Wait a minute, what?
And if I was a Delta CEO, I would start being concerned about Alaska getting closer to "the new" American (an airline poised to emerge from their merger with a better route structure, and let's face it, better uniforms! than Delta) ... I think the Alaska BOD would look at expanding that agreement and becoming a feed for AA, and together put the slap down on the Emperor and his bubbas.

Some of you surely want to know the particulars of Southwest Airlines’ deal to buy AirTran Holdings, so here are some details:
• The merging companies are AirTran and Guadalupe Holdings Corp., a Nevada corporation and wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines. Guadalupe will be merged into AirTran, which will then become a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines.
• After the merger closes, AirTran will be merged into a new limited liability company set up as a Texas company, LLC Sub, which will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest.
Curious about mergers and seniority integration? Research this and how McC/Bond applies vis a vis wholly owned's.

None of this is a secret. DL has been working with all stakeholders involved and has multipile plans in place to get the gate capacity it needs in the timeframes needed. There are several variables like gate utilization, new construction and relocation that are at play, but its not an issue in the slightest if it can be done or not. None of the multiple plans involves having to buy/merge with AS to get it. Either way it will take a little time and of course money (although nowhere near the cost of other markets like NYC) and its really not that big of a deal.
There are other markets where getting the gate/terminal logistics wanted/needed are much more complicated and unsure. SEA is not one of them. DL doesn't want or need to dominate SEA like its ATL. Its just going to about 30 gates in several years time. Its going to happen. Book it.

There is a deal with VAt to protect DL flying in general as well as the share of LHR flying. While I'm inherently skeptical of all scope deals, alliances in some form are 100% necessary for survival. I'm sure you realize that no legacy airline anywhere in the world can fly to and from every dot on its route map in every country 100% of the time. You seem to acknowledge this by predicting…even hoping…that AS gets deeper into bed with AA (and likewise its many, many alliances) as a distractor to mask the massive scope shortcomings of AS pilots.
As for SkyWest, AS is partnering with them already and will do so more in the future. They have much larger planes on order, and AS has no scope to stop anything they or AS management wants to do. DL is in a much better position WRT that. Although the lack of scope at AS could have a ripple effect through negative pattern bargaining pressure for the entire industry, DL, AA, UA and others are in a much stronger position to resist. AS pilots are just along for the ride, which sucks. I don't wish that on them and I'd love for them to get vastly superior scope.
As for CPZ, DL scope limits what they can do. AS scope does not, and apparently they are for hire as well. Check six.
As for AA, how funny would it be that the cold hammer of justice against the evil DL would fall by AS giving up its soverignty and can do indy spirit to noble partner loving AA? Or maybe, just maybe, they will agree to all of Alaska's terms, and bow down to accept Alaska's role as exclusive provider of all things west coast because, after all, AS is the dominant carrier and there is nothing DL or AA can ever do about it except beg AS to take their feed on Alaska's terms. That could happen. It could. It really could.
