Together, that partnership would make a great team.

Alternatively, I would ask BT to consider buying DAL due to his superior CEO skills, and, of course, pilots!
This is so funny to read coming from a newbie with probably what...100 hours in the civilian airliner world!!??

I would login to my APC forum and ask my pilot group on there, perhaps find the one with the most posts or maybe the one who wrote a book on aviation.

Serious note, I don't know. I would try my best to work with Alaska as was mentioned, it's cheaper and much less at risk just in case my global port of Seattle plan didn't work as I'd hoped.

You won't get scope, you have no leverage. This is a done deal, and skywest will be filling that gap. AS is as big as it's ever going to be, if anything your actual fleet may decline as more 900s are ordered. You may fly the same ASMs, but with fewer planes. Your group really f'ed up by not at least getting scope reigned in at 76 seats.

If we don't vote scope in our next contract Skywest or whoever will be flying 100+ seaters for Alaska.... Not Alaska pilots.

Default Delta 30 Gates In SEA

AS is as big as it will ever be? That's weird that we are delaying retirements of aircraft and adding 900s and firming up options. Our pilot group is growing not shrinking and upgrade has dropped to 9 years. We always have leverage and if our pilot group fights for it we can get better scope.

It's interesting to see the worker bees so readily "buy in to" the rah rah rah management puts out..."we are in a fight for our lives...big bad wolf is trying to get us". Watched this happen when Airtran made motions to buy Midwest but was rebuffed by Midwest management only to later be purchased by TPG followed by Republic. We all know how that story ended with Midwest pilots being relieved of their duties and management lining their pockets.

If you think Brad T cares at all about what happens to you as a pilot, you need to pull the Koolaid IV from your neck. Alaska pilots are a great group of guys. That said, some (as with all pilot groups) are awfully naive when it comes to scope and misplaced trust in their management "doing what's best for the employees". If the go it alone experiment fails, Brad and the Board will be just fine. Your career as a pilot means nothing to them and all you will get (if you are lucky) is "thanks guys, I understand you think a Delta merger would have been better for your careers but I felt it was in the best interest of everybody (especially myself) to pursue other avenues. Peace out!"

Yeah, but didn't ALPA do a nice cover story on them as the pilots all lost their jobs?

Yes sir. There was a feel good moment with the last flight. Cookies were served then the lights went out on those jobs. To be honest it was rather bazaar.

Speaking of which, anybody have a link to that awful ALPA magazine cover photo?

Well none of us Delta guys want that to happen. We've had enough of you guys flying our West coast passengers into SEA. We can do it on our own just fine. At least when DCI does some of the SEA flying we may see it upguaged to a mainline jet someday. When you guys were flying all our pax there was never a chance to have any it upguaged to our jets. Looking forward to the 737 SEA base on the next bid.

I'm having some issues with why the Alaskan pilots do not want Delta pilots to perform Delta flying. You guys seem to want to prove to us why it's a bad idea. What is the big deal? Your management didn't want the business, so our management decided to use us.
