2007 + 3yrs doesn't equal next year. But I am sure you will gracefully explain your way of thinking that it is.

A simple disagreement on the timing. Lacking a delay for negotiations due to a change in APA leadership from the total corporate infiltration presently at APA or a change in the retirement age, I say we will hire in 2008. AA73 disagrees, saying that we will hire in the next 3 years. With a little study and contemplation, Flifast, even you can figure it all out. (No, I didn't say sell it all out, so please don't head to the management of your airline and offer concessions.)

Your math skills are no better than your ability to back up the BS you post around here.

Once we sign our new contract, AA will unleash a pretty big aircraft order. We have the cash ($6B plus) and we need a fleet renewal plan.
LOS would be nice, but I won't count on it.

Aircraft order? WHAT aircraft are they going to order? Most delivery slots for Boeing and Airbus are taken up until 2011. They're late in the game, last-minute as usual. Even bankrupt airlines are adding aircraft.

HAD a pretty large order.

I think they negotiated with Boeing a while ago to give up most of those orders to those that could afford them...

I find it hard to believe that American would not have worked it out with some third party company to hold an order for them while they work on a deal with their pilots. I do not think that American would wait until 2011 to get the 787 .

What makes you think AMR hasn't already secured a secret deal for more aircraft? Don't underestimate their shrewdness (sp?) in making ANY kind of deal. AMR is one of Boeing's biggest and best customers. This is the same thing that happened in '97, when the 777 assembly line was moving along and everyone was worried that AA was getting behind... bingo, we signed the new contract and whamo, 777 orders.

Oh, and I do think the furloughees will get at least some LOS credit.
