ALPA shut down their web board.

Just curious, I wasn't around for that.

Because ALPA can be held responsible for statements made by members if they host the web board. It cost we ALPA members a lot of money to moderate the board, but it was necessary to spend the money to prevent some knuckleheads from posting suggestions to engage in everything from illegal job actions, to violations of ALPA's governing documents, to threats against other members. By owning and hosting the board ALPA could be considered complicit, or sanctioning, whatever was posted there.

Free speech has never been a privilege to harm others without responsibility.

Best if ALPA isn't involved in providing "the" forum. There are plenty of other places to participate including here on APC and dalpilots.forumchitchat.com

Good! Hopefully they read carefully that the largest portion have polled for an immediate 15% percent raise with two 5% raises (many asking for higher of course and a few DALPA guys weighing in to lower the bar). Another question asks how total compensation should be distributed. The largest portion of those polled feel it should be balanced down the middle hourly pay raises with work rule improvements.

So to recap, the largest portion of those polled show the numbers at 25% pay raise over 3 years (I put 25% first year with 10% years two and three) with another 25% pay raise over three years in the form of improved work rules totaling a 50% increase in compensation = actually making real progress toward restoration. Also a 20% retirement is shown to be that at the highest percentage.

So yes let them get the data passed to them by DALPA snitches.

Here's the list from our contract comparison as to who leads in the specified areas:

1. Scope...............Southwest
2. Pay Rates:
-----B747/777.......Delta
-----B767-4/A330..United
-----B767-300.......UPS
-----B757.............UPS
-----B737-900.......Delta
-----A320.............United
-----MD88/717......Delta
-----Per Diem........American
3. Work Rules:
-----Monthly Guarantee...UPS
-----Reserve Guarantee...UPS
-----DPA/ADG................Southwest
4. Vacation:
-----Accrual..............United
-----Pay...................FedEx
5. Training Pay.........Alaska
6. Sick Leave............Hard to tell
7. Retirement Plans...FedEx
8. Medical................Southwest
9. Long Term Disab...UPS

Carl

Talk about cherry picking. You don't have to lead every category to have the best contract. Big picture Carl.

By publicly discussing wants, needs, limits, etc... The company can gauge what pilots may be willing to settle for.

I'm not going to say exactly where I saw this happen (to not out myself), but at a previous ALPA carrier, management brought printouts of the forums showing us exactly why they were offering what they were. "Cause the pilots say they wanted it." Yes that's a true statement.

And yes, negotiations went down hill and were detrimental to the pilot group.

I suggest using the ALPA forums... A little more secure, but still doesn't mean someone can't print out the websites.

Back in 2008, I was in 757/767 school. I had to go over to the 4th floor around the corner from SD's office to the aircrew records office to give them copies of my Russian and French visas. As I rounded the corner again to exit the area, a guy in one of the cubicle's in the area was on the DALPA message board reading hangar talk.

I walked up behind him, assuming he was a pilot working for Steve's office, and said "Get back to work" joking. He turned around startled. I glanced at his badge and he didn't have the crew-P on his ID.

The DALPA boards are being trolled too.

While what you said is true, the real reason they shut down the forum was because Buzz, Randy and their buddies hated it. They do not want debate or free speech.

You are right T, management now knows. Total disaster. Let's pack up and hope for maybe stretching to 4-8-3-3 again.

Appears from the updates posted here that Timmy's friends want 25% -10% -10%.

I'm ok with the company understanding that. Are you?

It would be accurate that you have lobbied for less, along with LB$. Where do you stand on longer training freezes, avg min calendar day, training pay, vacation length and pay? International pay?

[EDIT:If we need a passport for the destination, we need that compensation. No more of these silly geographical carve outs]

Well, if that first sentence above is an accurate statement, do something about it! While you are at it, lose of the condescending tone and constant personal attacks of late.

They are tiresome.

Go get some of those senior compadres like yourself and start lobbying for what you all want.

If you carry the majority, success should be easy.

If Timmy's friends ever organize outside of his club, they certainly will sway politics.

Likely, it's going to be the middle of the road, ex furloughed, 15 year in the right seat aviators that will have a solid voice. They too need to get organized though.

So quit complaining and stop with the personal attacks. You are an intelligent person as you have displayed such qualities here in the years before. You yourself have also said on numerous occasions that you are a line check airman.

Maybe try behaving like one.

Where do I start? I am fine with the company knowing that some of us want 25% 10% 10%. And I have not lobbied for less. Anywhere. Ever. I have said that my personal minimum is 12%. Yours differs, and that's fine with me. All the blustering in the world is fine. Where the rubber meets the road is where things get interesting. How long are you willing to wait to get that 25%? THAT is the question young man. There is a time when the cost/benefit curves will cross, and the company will gladly give us that. You have to decide if waiting for those curves to cross will be financially smart. But that's right... TVM is a myth. So nevermind. I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. When the TA comes out, I will evaluate it based on its' overall merits and then I will vote.

I have met people that couldn't care less about bottom end scope. Couldn't... care... less. And guess what. They are way junior to me. Just some perspective for you so that you know that this place is no barometer of the pilot group and neither is the doughnut survey.

Condescending? Sorry if it comes across like that, but if you do not believe that management is putting together a battle plan using information supplied by blabbermouths from competing websites, then nothing I can say will change your mind. So let's support their continued providing of that information. good plan. I find it interesting that you find it "condescending". So if my posts bother you so much, you can feel free to do just as I have with PD. /ignore Works great, lasts long time. Life's a lot better.
