Default longest AA flight KDFW-VHHH

Kind of a cool article regarding the now longest AAL flight in the network

DFW-Hong Kong flight is now the longest in American Airlines? system | Dallas Morning News

American Airlines (AA) #137 ? 12-Jun-2014 ? KDFW - VHHH / HKG ? FlightAware

16 hours is a long time. How many crews are on this flight and how are the meals/etc ? "Enhanced" over standard fare ? Etc ?

The return into KDFW, dodging T-Storms and stuff in Texas, must be a b@ll-breaker.

Kind of a hobbyist/airliners.net question but I still find some of the industry cool !

Oneworld partner Cathay Pacific runs multiple 16 hr flights A DAY and have been for ages into JFK, YYZ, LAX, SFO, and ORD. Ideally they pair up the crews with HKG and US based guys so the rest works out well. It will be four pilots. Don't know how American will break it down but CX uses CA, FOx2, and an SO(cruise pilot). My guess is AA will run 2 CAs and 2 FOs.

American was going to start DFW-PVG a few years ago but couldn't work a deal with the union due to the long sector length. What's changed?

Yeahbut ATL-Johannesburg, South Africa is over an hour longer, both ways! A couple years ago I flew one that was over 17hrs. take off to landing, plus an hour of taxi time when we landed in ATL in a snow storm. Great fun sliding around the ramps there!

I don't know how AA schedules their crews, with 2 Capts. or 1, but DAL uses 2 Capt, 2 F/O's, and we divide up the flight time by 4, each crew gets two breaks, about 4 hours each, depending on block time. Tonight is only 15:35, not much headwind in the summer. January is always the longest legs when you run into a southern jet stream in your face about 5 hours out of ATL. Here it is, 8,560 sm's.

Here is the AA flight, 138, HKG-DFW, only 13:53 and 8,487sm's. A cake walk!

Here's DAL 7, Dubai-ATL, only 7,646sm's but 15 hours tonight.

Delta flew an empty A330 18+ hours from Singapore to ATL a few months ago, coming back from some mx work in SIN.

I know it is early for these routes, but would any of the 777 experts care to "weigh in" at any potential weight restrictions for DFW-HKG-DFW and DFW-PVG-DFW?
