GMAFB. You really think that we folks that spent our time and money going to multiple job fairs to speak with these people went in there with that attitude? I approached it with the same intensity I would have with UA or DL. I'm ****ed that they won't even send a form letter of some sort saying "thank you for interest in Spirit, but..."
Next year, 2015, there will not be a single major airline in the country begging people to work for them.

I'm not at all implying that that is the reason why your phone is quiet. I was merely commenting on the attitude I occasionally see here. How do you know they're not interested in you? There's no reason to get PO'd at Spirit, after all it can take months to get the call. Next year, 2015, there will not be a single major airline in the country begging people to work for them.

I believe two to three internal line pilot recommendations should bypass this job fair taking money for God knows what reasons, unless that money goes to gap the medical leave till long term disability kicks in on NK pilots. Other than that, internal recommendations would do just fine, if not better selecting pilots.

Job Fairs are a borderline deplorable practice for the sole purpose of getting hired as a pilot.
Borderline only because it helps some get face time whereas normally their app would get lost in a stack.
But like others have said, if the company receives 2 to 3 internal recommendations for an applicant, it should allow them to bypass any job fairs and allow them to at least get a phone call interview.
I just hate the premise of "we really want to see that you want this job" and somehow shelling out $100s by attending these job fairs will prove this.

True... However much this sucks...it does work. Schmucks like me would've had no shot without these job fairs. No degree .. No turbine pic time... No internal recs....and here I am. Why? No clue.. But I know for a fact that if I hadn't gone to a job fair, I absolutely wouldn't be here right now.
Those who are trying... Keep the faith. This is without question the best aviation job I've ever had, and the future is bright.
