Stop worrying about stuff you can't control, guys. This is all rumour, speculation and industry mill-stuff. You have to make the best career decision TODAY, based on all of the available information you have TODAY, not worry about something 1-5-10 years in the future, that may be total BS anyway.
If you choose CAL, it is a good decision based on a good track record. They have a good airline.

I don't know if anyone else has looked at it yet, but if you take the UAL-CAL merged seniority list from APC and sort it by DOB, by the end of 2007 (assuming age 60 stays), another 570 people will retire and that's from the merged list. Also according to APC, there are only 100 people still awaiting call back (900 bypassed). So even if there is a merger and route reductions, it probably wont be too bad. I'd still hate to see it happen though....
