I think over 5000 applied, im not sure if they're going to publish how many were approved. The next step is RIF, forced separations which will likely put several more highly experienced pilots on the street

And if this drawdown follows previous ones.... there'll be a return to active duty offer with bonuses a couple years after that.

Uhhhh, are you serious or flame baiting?
But reading this board, and others 1700 may be slightly below what the average single seat/tactical jet guy is getting picked up with. But with IP and other boxes checked, it's going to bridge that.

This will be no different, the American people will do what they always do after an 8 year stint of a party. They will vote in the most drastic difference in 2016 and the military upswing will happen again.
Just hang on for the ride, get'em where you can because I guarantee you they will get you every time!
I played for 22 years, my father for 42 years, and my son for 2 months (and counting) and it ended up a good ride for us.

Don't waste any time with him 10YG, he's not worth the time it takes to type a message (Purple Turtle that is).

FYI, Today the air force just approved VSP (voluntary separation pay) for hundreds if not thousands of active duty IP level or higher pilots. The market is going to be flooded with a lot more instructor/evaluators than previously thought, effective June 1st. Stay patient everyone.

Not exactly the case. ADSC waiver authority was released last week allowing up to 6 year service commitment remaining for UPT to be waived. This was to capture the '03-'08 yr gp pilots (in particular 11M) that need to be downsized. However, apparently in an AFPC webinar with MPS CC's there was mention of delaying VSP apps again until the 1 May application window closes. To date I've only heard of a few dozen pilots being approved. Seems like they are randomly reviewing applications. An '02 11M here, '07 C-17 guy there, couple '05 yr gp C-5/17 folks. Who knows how this will all turn out. The goal posts move on a daily basis, but my family for one would like to know ASAP since my terminal leave would start in 2 months and my ducks are not lined up yet.
English please.

I'll try.
AF has announced a few plans for reductions
- Early retirement, with at least 15 years service you could retire, vs the normal 20
- Voluntary sep (VSP), waive a variety of service commitments and pay you severance to leave early if you volunteer
- RIF, non-voluntary sep, waive commitments and pay you less than if you vol'd. Occurs after first two programs run their course
About two weeks ago, AF approved a bunch of early retirements. Still no answers on the second.
Bottom line, at this point, there are now a few more people entering the job market (maybe 100s, not even close to thousands). If they approve VSP, that'd be more. How many? No idea.
