No worries.

Follow up to 152's question... Who's been conditionally hired at swa without their 737 type?

Seems like a lot of people are whining about things they heard from a friend about interviews. If you dislike the way a certain airline conducts its interviews, don't want to get a type rating pre-interview, or don't like who they may invite to a dinner, don't apply or figure out a way to metaphorically hold your nose during the process.

As someone on the outside looking in wondering what it's like in the right seat of a 7ER, it's not whining, it's looking to see if there is just one more box to fill to move the app up the list. Maybe you've forgotten about how it is when you're searching for a job.

WARich, you said, roughly, "welcome, now we are going to pick who you can bring to our dinner." Sounded like a complaint to me. When I got hired, I was a single civilian. Imagining that there is some code about whether or not we hire only married military pilots or guys who belong to country clubs or guys with a master's degree or better is folly. If your time is competitive, you will eventually get called. Be prepared, be honest, and let it flow. Also, internal recommendations will help a ton, as you no doubt realize. I truly hope if this is where you want to work that you get your shot. Delta is a good place to work and the airline is hitting on all cylinders right now.

Having been in the non-aviation corporate world I've never experienced a company whole told me who I can bring to dinner. Just a little surprised. As if we aren't responsible enough to know who we would want to share a special occasion with. But that is indeed a small price to pay to work for a great company such as Delta.

Here's how I looked at it. They were paying for it; I'd bring who they said I could bring. They were simply trying to prevent guys (or gals) from having someone tag along for a free evening out. On the other hand, we never have to buy newspapers, sit around FBOs, or be on call 24/7! We got that goin' for us at least!

Certainly not a deal breaker. Was just mentioning it as a side note since someone brought up the desire to get married

Haha. My wife (girlfriend of 7 years at the time) wasn't permitted to attend. I made a personal inquiry after class one day to see if she would be allowed. Bottom line; no ring on the finger, then your spouse probably isn't coming. She still wishes she could have gone, and to be honest, I wish she could have. She's been with me pretty much since I got my private pilot certificate. I'd have really liked to have shared the event with her.

One of my buddies did, but 5yrs ago. I'd think with the Legacies on the prowl, they'd be a little "lax'd" with the requirement? But, then again they're not hiring the #'s like the Legacies..
