wookie - nice job being prepared. A couple of job fairs (box checked) and then checked the upgrade box. Was that a new type rating also?

I believe what he is referring too is he had 4 Letters of Rec from Delta pilots in his Airline Apps Addendum, but none of those pilots sent in an internal rec to the Pilot Selection Team via their delta.com email that will get your application pulled and looked at.

Maybe you can give that guy with a 4.0 GPA and 13,000 hours an internal recommendation so he doesn't have to go to a job fair. I am just be sarcastic at the hiring practices not you. It's actually pretty awesome you made it and should have a great career! The 55 year old is being discriminated against by a computer so it's o.k. and legal.

I don't know the 55 year old and neither do you. That said, you're assuming his app is perfect and contains no errors. I've heard crazy stories from guys that made very stupid mistakes on their apps that cost them many months/years in seniority. I know you're pulling for the guy - I am, too - but there's a very high probability there's a reason or reasons other than his age and high flight time for his no-calls.

Until Delta makes their tier and scoring systems completely public and transparent, which will never happen of course, all that can be discussed as to why someone of such high experience can't get a call are theories and conjecture.

No new type rating. I tried to check as many boxes as I could to make up for my low time. Something worked, still not exactly sure what...

Centerline is exactly right. I was waiting until after I upgraded to have my Delta friends put in an internal rec. This is because I was told at both job fairs that I needed more TPIC to be competitive. Oddly enough, the invite came before I had any real TPIC, and before I had a chance to have them pull the trigger on the internal recs. Go figure.

This. I have a close friend who has had his app in longer than me with similar qualifications - he's heard crickets. After I got the email (and I admit, I have no idea why I got lucky) he got frustrated and asked me to take a look at his application. It was riddled with typos and other inconsistencies. Of course, he is just one person. I know there are other people on this forum who have had their app professionally screened and are still waiting as well. It's frustrating for everybody.
