Some impressive previous posts - although talk is cheap; internet talk cheaper - but you seriously believe what you write above? A "better quality of people"???? You mean investment banker types that could have made 3 mil a year? Sign me up for that flight crew And while absorbing the regionals would be a win-win for both sides of the fence, it is not done because regional flying, or even flying an RJ, is 'beneath' them..? That's a pretty powerful pilot group making those kinds of decisions.

I have 0 experience in regional flying but have jump seated with various regional carriers at least 100 times in the past 3 years. Every crew, to a man (woman), was very professional and highly skilled.

There wouldn't be a bidding war or a race to the bottom as they say. Hiring standards would go up and better quality of people will become Airline Pilots since now it's a real profession with real salaries. There wouldnt be these cheesy names like go jets, envoy, republic, endeavor, commutair, etc, etc, etc...It would simply be American Airlines or Delta Airlines or United Airlines painted on these aircraft..There is a lot more to it but you folks get the idea..Cost is NOT a factor, I assure you. Net, net it's a win win situation for management and employee groups..BUT, the problem is that pilots at the Majors didn't want this because they thought they were better than regional pilots..They thought flying an RJ was below them so management is not alone to blame..The industry can be fixed and it's really not that hard either..Will it happen? That is to be seen
Perhaps a history lesson going back to the mid 80s will enlighten you as to how we got to this point. It has taken 30 years to get here as we come full circle. You might have been in diapers (no, check that; a spark in someone's eyes) when all this started with the "commuters" as they were called and the code sharing. In the infancy of deregulation came this mess that today we call regionals.
