Avi8trixx, probably not a deal breaker, from my interview group it seemed the panels both focused very heavily on education background (schools attended, degrees obtained, GPA at each school, etc) and attendance record at all previous jobs. Attendance meaning how many sick calls, any times not finishing a rotation, what would previous employer say about your attendance, that kind of stuff.

Did they really ask about sick calls? That's interesting. Nobody calls in sick.

Thanks OB--I have a BA from a highly respected University, GPA is meh--could be better, could be worse. Have loss of an immediate family member and general career "wanderings" before I found my calling to become a pilot to justify in an interview.. I see buddies of mine with similar time, 4000TT getting hired. May just be sheer law of averages, but seems prior 121 gets the call? All I can do is sit back and watch the show I guess, other than be as proactive as possible. Are you all active in local philanthropy?

Yes, some local charity that was listed on my app, but they didn't really talk about it in the panel interview. Did come up with the psychologist on day 2 interestingly enough. My group of 8 included 3 121, 2 of which were prior military, and 5 military only.

Yes, they specifically asked how many times I had called in sick within the last year among other attendance questions that they were very deliberate to read word for word from a script and write down my exact answers.

Interesting. Well, I can see where they're coming from for protecting their interests. But, still, interesting.

May I ask how you listed this on your app? Airline apps is set up very poorly to tell them anything about yourself other than what they specifically asks. I'm just curious how folks that have been successful have listed things and where. Thanks!

Again, I suggest that interviewees not get wrapped around the actual question but the reason behind the question. At DAL, its honesty, forthrightness, willingness to accept past failures, etc. They don't really care about your past sick leave, they care if you are going to lie about it or try, in some way, to dodge that question.

Bottom line: mess up, fess up.

Any verifiable charity work can be listed in your last 10 years of employment section if you wish.
