Army guy here getting ready to make the transition. I have been flying the C-12 for 8 years now and flew Hueys for 12 years before that.

My first two assignments were Korea and Ft. McCoy, WI as a AC augmentee. I jumped to an AGR position with the Guard 10 days before 9-11 and have been there ever since.

I have applications in with SWA and Frontier right now. Going to Higher Power for a 737 type in a couple weeks. Hoping to land a job with either of these guys.

Best of luck to you and stick to it if you can. It is not easy, but it will be easier for you when you retire at 20 years. If you need to build some fixed wing time, you will have your military retirement to fall back on when it comes time to work those $20 an hour jobs. You can eat Dinty Moore while the others eat Ramen noodles.

I'm flying C-12's for the Army Guard...recently recalled to UAL. When I fealt there was no end in sight to being on furlough, I checked into what the Army Reserves had. I was told they cannot get enough FW pilots...didn't work for me because I could not commute to Los Alamitos or Georgia. A buddy of mine has kept up on it a little and he says the situation has not changed. Also, at the conferences we hear that the AD is short FW pilots. If you're already flying for the Army in some capacity, do some research on which units (Guard, Reserve, AD) are looking for pilots.
