Default Jumpeating with a baby?

The wife, kid (9 months old) and I are on a mini vacation. When we go home she has a 2 leg ticket, I plan to j/s on a direct flight. If I get a seat in the back is it ok to take the kid with me?

Thanks
RF

No. It is not. When you're a jumpseater, you're technically a working crewmember.

Is your child CASS approved? If so, this should not be a problem.

I've jump seated before with the family. They were non revving and I was js. Crew knew I was with my family. However, my wife was responsible for the baby on the flight. I rode on the back with them but she held baby the whole flight. I would never js with a baby without having someone there to take care of them. The fact that you thought about posting the question here says you pretty much knew the answer

Not on my airline. Our Fom says any child under 15 years old must be assigned unaccompanied minor status if traveling with just a jumpseater. A 9 month old does not qualify.
