Ahhh, I see where you're coming from. After all the flak you've gotten here, it amazes me how some spouses/significant others really don't understand and won't accept the employee's explanations about the rules and expectations of some of the few benefits we have in this industry. Good luck!
Giraffe would be a no-go, but a zebra might be OK - since it's a horse of a different color.

The way I see it, wife and little one travel to Point "C" with a stop over in Point "B" without papa. Papa wants to J/S on a nonstop flight, possibly in F/C without the risk of wa we wa from the future rug rat.

I've never had a Jumpseater walk up to the cockpit with a baby in arms.
Of course I've never thought about using a Jumpseater in any emergency unless they were company. If its evacuation related I'd let the FAs pick who they want to use from the cabin.
