Jumpeating with a baby?
#21
Wait, what's wrong with this? The wife has a confirmed ticket, and the baby is 9 months old which makes him a "baby in arms" for the wife. Those two will travel regardless of whether or not the jumpseater gets on. If the jumpseater gets on, the wife is holding the BIA. What if you get a seat next to the wife? Are you really saying it's "illegal" to hold your baby while your wife takes a break. Sounds hard to believe. It's not like you are primarily travelling with hte baby as a jumpseater. It's one thing if you walk into the flight deck with a baby asking to jumpseat. But the wife has the baby as BIA with a confirmed ticket.

I think you should give it a shot. You are well within your right to ask.
You need to be schooled on jumpseating rules

No offense....really. But your post makes me doubt the validity of the quote.
Just have your kid stay with your wife. An extra leg isn't going to kill her or your tot. It's a no-brainer.

When you are a jumpseater, you are a member of the crew and are expected to be able to help out in an emergency. You really think he's gonna stick around and hold his 9 month old while helping people evacuate out of a burning airplane? What if the FA's need help with a rowdy pax?

This is true. All CASS approved jumpseating babies in infant carriers go behind the FO. I would like to add though that the FO has to read books and sing to the baby once in cruise so the baby can take a nap.
