Wait, what's wrong with this? The wife has a confirmed ticket, and the baby is 9 months old which makes him a "baby in arms" for the wife. Those two will travel regardless of whether or not the jumpseater gets on. If the jumpseater gets on, the wife is holding the BIA. What if you get a seat next to the wife? Are you really saying it's "illegal" to hold your baby while your wife takes a break. Sounds hard to believe. It's not like you are primarily travelling with hte baby as a jumpseater. It's one thing if you walk into the flight deck with a baby asking to jumpseat. But the wife has the baby as BIA with a confirmed ticket.

I think his wife is going on different flights through a hub. He wants to jumpseat non-stop without his wife. He's not allowed to bring his baby as a jumpseater if he is the only adult traveling with the baby. He is allowed to do it as a non-rev though.

First learn the difference between a direct flight and a non-stop. You want to take a non-stop.

Next weigh the pros and cons of leaving your kid with your wife while you go home first. I imagine traveling with her is your best option.

Just make sure the baby checks in with the Captain. If the baby is in CASS, there may be room in the cockpit for it to sit behind the FO seat if they move the seat up.

Just make sure the baby asks for the ride and thanks them afterwards.

And make sure the baby is not on the master scab list.

Baby needs to show credentials (license, id, medical, etc) to the CA without having to be asked.

I think you should give it a shot. You are well within your right to ask.
