Actually I think this one looks very elegant. How it would look in real life I'm not sure and this paint would likely be more costly to maintain than mostly gray or white. That said, the paint scheme on AA's new tail doesn't look inexpensive even if it looks cheap and toyish.
Instead of hiring the high priced branding firms I would first ask all the airline geeks on the Internet (that eat, sleep and drink airlines and airplanes) to submit their ideas. They draw on knowledge of hundreds of paint schemes across the years and have a better idea of what looks good than some 25 year old pot smoking, bow tie wearing marketing genius. Anybody remember "TED" and "SONG"?

Just going to say the the "alternative" and "creative" liveries we are looking at are other people/designers/airline geeks floating ideas, not necessarily actual liveries that were officially in contention with this one.

Exactly what I thought the first time I saw the stupid logo that's misaligned and too far away from the lettering.. looks exactly like a pair of 3D glasses.
Now I see a shark fin with a bloody trail of employee contracts in its wake when I look at the logo. Take a look, you will see what I mean. Almost like they intended it this way just to rub it in our faces.
Either way it's shiiiite. I'm fine with the big letters on the side but that logo is junk.

They should be in contention because both of them are much better than the crappy one we got. The response is overwhelmingly negative all across the internet. Except for the brown nosers on Jetnet of course.
