FF Miles are a liability on the DAL books that must be reconciled by the creditor committee before exiting bankruptcy. In the case of a merger, the acquiring company would be required to service that debt. Of course in banckruptcy, many debts are settled for pennies on the dollar so I wouldn't book that round the world trip using FF miles just yet.
All of this merger talk makes me nervous. I can only imagine what you guys must feel. The airline stocks went up though today.

Already works for Chautauqua. White EMB-135s with a blue tail. Fly into ATL at a US Air flight, out as a Delta flight, then the next morning as a United flight. I heard a story once of a Chautauqua flight flying a Delta leg with US Air inflight magazines and a US Air F/A uniform. Oops.
