Default Ipad with Delta Bidding/Online Training

Thinking about getting the wife an Ipad for Christmas. She is an FA for Delta but before I sink the cash in I wondered if the Ipad is fully functional with all the Delta bidding and online recurrent training needs?

I've heard the lack of flash player can be a problem but are there any real issues with using the Ipad with Delta systems and are there any work arounds?

Thanks

Airfix

Bidding works great. So far, recurrent training, for pilots, doesn't work. At least as far as I can tell. Still need a CD Rom to play the disc.

As buzz said, bidding is possible. But any E-learning currently is not possible. I did recently have the gentleman who is in charge of all E-learning tell me they are working on eliminating CDs, and making all training available online just as NWA had it. This will make things such as recurrent available via tablets(including iPads). Not sure how far away that is though.

I have not used a cd for training in many years. You can download all the training from delta net.

Sailing, how do you do it on the Pad? I've tried to download several times and can't get it to work.

I use a netbook that does not have a CD. I don't believe the training will run on a IPAD even if you download it. I don't however want a web based option where you have to have a solid internet connection to do the training. I prefer to do it on company time on sits ect... I never do it on my time.

Airfix,
Yes, bidding on the iPad works for pilots. Keep in mind that the FAs use a different vendor and program from the pilots. They use a program called "Carmen" for bidding and LMS for training. You should direct your question to someone who uses those programs, preferably a Delta FA.

I agree. I do it on layovers. I thought you were inferring that we could do it on an iPad. It doesn't work yet. Don't have a netbook therefore the need for a laptop to make it work.

Yes, but it's all file based. Once it's created, it can't be fixed. That's why we find errors all the time. It's not true internet based training. You're simply downloading a file. What the e-learning people want to do is move from files to actual links to the data base. They want to do this since so many pilots use tablets/iPads. This is what I was told, so please don't shoot the messenger.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Thanks for the tips. I guess the Ipad is on hold for now because I heard around our Thanks Giving dinner that Ipads are coming for FA's, at least pursers. No timeline given except it is probably definately maybe going to happen. She'll have to be happy with a new vacuum cleaner for Christmas
