I now this will probably get me shoved into a door jam, but oh we'll I'm big enough to take it. Yes, I shouldn't have been placed above an 18 year pilot who'd never been furloughed and our number one guy shouldn't have been placed 500 spots down. Maybe those two things balanced it out and made it fair, I don't know. Didn't I read somewhere though, about two wrongs don't make a right?
There's no choice but to defend the NIC though, because everytime modifying it is discussed with the east, out comes a DOH list. Apparently that's their idea of a modification, ha, ha.

Boy I really hate to enter into this fray as a FO Skywest Pilot but I guess everyone is entitled to their thoughts. I promise to be nice and only say what I feel and what I've been taught by those with more experience and knowledge than I.
First off I'm 46 yrs old. I started into this industry in 1987, it was perfect timing, Eastern and Pan Am were just about to flood the market with pilots looking for work. I was a FI and the guy who I worked for had the largest contract freight outfit in the midwest flying Aero commanders for UPS. I asked him about me getting some experience and time in the right seat on dh legs and he laughed and asked how much time I had. I told him about 500. He told me to come back and ask about it when I had 5000 TT 500 night, and 250 actual, (to sit in the right seat!) Of course I was discouraged and with a new wife and a baby on the way, I was forced to find a different line of work. Fast forward, after starting my own business and making some money and getting some time I found myself in a Be20 (Kingair) flying air ambulance, and then later a Lear 31. I came to Skywest in 2006 with just over 1000 hrs tt and around 400 turbine. Currently I've got 6000 tt etc, etc, I'm still an FO. I"ve talked to many Capts and FO's who work for "EAST" and they have all told me "don't come here" I have talked to current and former pilots of USAW, and also United, and they all, even senior capts/sim instructors have told me don't leave Skywest. They tell me, and I quote " Regardless of what people tell you about being a regional, your company (Skywest) is better prepared than ANY major out there to succeed." Now, all that being said, I've got many friends who were capts here who left for United 4 yrs ago or so. They got trained on the bus and IF they were lucky got off IOE before they were forlughed! They haven't worked for an airline since. At Skywest ALL the pilots saw this happen to these senior people. It's been over 4 yrs and they still haven't found work in the the US airlines. I say all that to ask this question. Why, at my age should I leave an FO job paying me 60,000/yr with a company who has more money in the bank, and more credit than most Airlines in the world. I have at least 15 days off, soon to upgrade to over 100,000/yr at my pay grade and work ethic, to a Major airline job that I could soon be furloghed from making 25000/yr 1st year pay????? Ok, I'm off my soapbox. My father who is now 66 and still flying an Airtractor 602, came up thru the Vietnam era, he's seen all the cycles airline wise. He's also a commodity/stock broker. I recently applied with Atlas, he went nuts and told me the cylce is about to come up and then crash again with world economic failure. Now my dad is not Nostradomes but he has been right many times more than he has been wrong, and after awhile you finally start to think maybe your old man knows what he's talking about..... I would also like to add that Skywest may have a personal friend in the White house as well, we'll leave that to the educated people of the US if that happens or not. providing there are enough of them to oust our current...... I can't say it......... leader. You know who I mean.

Your old man is right, economic down turn could be right around the corner. Is SkyWest not part of the economy?
If Mitt wins, he wont be crowned king of Utah. What is he goin to do for you boys?
It sounds like you want some mental relief from your peers because you are scared to move on. If you feel like OO is immune from all this mess...stay.
