And while you're at it swing by the cactuspilot website and buy a tie. Your either with the westicles or against them.

New hire west pilot here. Been using my health insurance since day 1 for my kid. There was some confusion on this issue, but it's amazing what you can find out by calling the right people at the company instead of spreading third-hand rumors. Also never been asked to buy any overpriced tie or to donate anything for that matter. On the contrary, I've seen nothing but professional respect for the third list crowd. It's not our fight. Most of the vitriol on here is spread by 10% of the pilot group. Take it all with a big grain of salt.

Thanks for this post. It was a breath of fresh air from all the childish non-sense I've been reading on here. All the east and west back and forth was making me second guess my decision to accept employment here. You made me feel much better about it.

It's a great time to be here. East, West or AA. Sooner or later it won't matter anymore.

For what it's worth (I have still probie excitement)....I started the beginning of this year, CLT 320 and for "all" of the 2 months I've been online, when the east/west topic has come up as a side discussion to the more popular SLI conversations, every Captain I've flown with has basically said not to get involved and pick sides cause we don't have a dog in the fight directly and there's no sense in becoming bitter...So far everyone has been great and very positive about the career ahead for newbies... and as a whole it's been a great experience and wouldn't think twice about recommending this airline, especially for those coming from the regional's. Having spent 10yrs at RAH, I haven't felt this well rested (on short call rsv) since college. And for those of you wondering if it's worth it to stick it out (cause that's where I was for the last 5 yrs at RAH)...So far the saying "Your worst day at a major is better than your best day at regional" is absolutely accurate...Good luck to all trying to get on, hopefully the future stays bright
