How much of a delay can one expect between completion of Indoc, and the start of training? I know the answer probably depends on the aircraft assigned, but what has been the min/max delay in the recent past?

Min - a couple days
Max - two weeks

Above for my class. You bid on your start date. For some reason the late days went "senior". I don't really know why...you get paid the same regardless .

Same pay, plus your seniority doesn't ride on training completion. So what's not to love with having a few days off?

FWIW, my class had some training start dates the Monday following Indoc, while my start date was about 12 days after Indoc. Mine was the latest start date, and everyone else was spread out in between somewhere. Most people had at least 3-4 days off or more.

You will typically get 2-5 days off every 4-5 days while in A320 training. They let you use space positive transportation so it's nice being able to commute home stress free.

Also, the space positive seat will be converted at the gate to First Class whenever there is room. This is especially nice when coming home after a validation or evaluation, since you won't be in uniform, and can have a celebratory beverage.

Plus, training pay is slightly higher than what it'll be on reserve (is it average line value? I can't remember), so some guys figured it'd be better to be in training as long as possible.

85 hours in training, 76 hours (short call) when on reserve.

+ per diem, I think I made around $700 in per diem per month while in training IIRC

I got a long call line in PHL next month!

Yeah, you figure it's about $50/day of per diem, so a week nets you about $250.

Long-call that quick? I'm still in training. I caught some kind of bug on day 1 of the sim and wound up having to go home. It took 6 weeks for them to re-flow me back into the program...but I got paid. Only downside is it was tough trying to keep sharp with my flows, etc. I did practice those some but there's no real way to practice initializing the MCDU. I'm back here now getting ready for my MV this weekend.

Wow that sucks but good for you too!

The one nice thing about PHL is the movement.

I got CLT in the August bid award. Not much movement, but it's a one-leg commute. I won't have to sit reserve in DCA for long. I'll finish OE in mid-June, then I'll be on military orders for most of July.
