I mean, Im not really sure I wouldn't expect the same if my father was the VP of ops, or if the roles were reversed, yea I would expect my son to get preferential treatment. If he was a CA at a regional, or even a 5 year FO, he's more than qualified IMO

Well he is certainly qualified then. 5 years of flying up and down the east coast makes a man out of you. Of course these young wiper snappers never got the chance to fly a J31 or similar pos in and out of Rochester, Schenectady, buffalo etc. in winter doing 8 legs a day. Now that takes the hair from your head and moves it to your chest.

That's for damn sure.... 4-5 years of CAT II mornings in PHL, long onboards in LGA, and some A320 dodging on the CLT ramp ages you well..

You do know who Piedmont Airlines is right? Unfortunately, it appears we are being penalized for having this sort of experience. I guess times have changed.

Dash 8 right? There is no comparison to a J31, no autopilot, yaw damper, and dynamically unstable.

I agree with you 100%. Especially the CLT ramp part. That place is crazy.

The Dash is a great lead in to flying any size jet. Any Dash pilot is well qualified for mainline, my only point was that this individual probably leapt ahead of a lot of other people, both here and at Piedmont. Hopefully he is a good guy and not a prima donna.

He's a very good guy. The type that you would want to do a 4 day with. RJ Captain with a 4 year degree, that's what they're going for. My only surprise is that it took him this long to get on over there.

Isn't that some kind of 4 wheeled standing personal transportation device?

I agree... I speak from the Air Wisconsin standpoint, but I think all of us small market express guys (ZW, PIED, PSA) have had our fair share of the Airways system beat down and have been humbled by it.. 6-7 leg days, destinations like Wilkes Barre, CharlieWest, Asheville, Roanoke, etc..(places where you gotta watch yourself regardless of weather).

The dash nor the RJ is a J31, but most of us come from allnight freight turboprop operations.. We have plenty of guys who flew the Jetstream at airlines before coming to the RJ.

I think the piedmont guy you're talkin about will do well. You want some prima donnas? Go hire some Republic guys.
