US Airways Calls

Hard to say as PHX is not currently a basing option. It might become one once they are through with all the West recalls; sometime in the first half of 2014. However, by that point, assuming the merger gets approved this winter, this place is gonna be in full on merger mode. I can see that base shrinking and becoming very senior. But, who knows. I just wouldn't put this place at the top of your list to work at because of that base.

Actually, it will be quite the contrary.. Asuming a merger of course, as soon as the first system-wide bid happens. There will be a mass exodus of PHX based fo's for other bases. Per the Nic, every First Officer in Phx now (including the ones coming back from furlough) can hold Captain positions in group 2 aircraft in other bases..

It may be, but if the merger proceeds and Nic incorporated than we're still a full 2.5 years away before any merged SLI is implemented.
Assuming no merger, new hires may have access to the PHX base in 6 months (just a guess). However, the West operation could be downsized with attrition because with out a merger they will continue to be a more expensive operation due to their pilot contract.
I say this because it does not seem like the new rest rules are creating a notable hiring wave in PHX.

It's not. Almost all west F/Os are in the seniority range, on the Nic, with guys that are group 2 captains on the east, but that doesn't mean they could automatically bid it. Even assuming the Nic is used there will most likely no bump/no flush and the delay in implementing the new sli.
Just part of the pipe dream.

Anyone out there that interviewed mid October and is still waiting for either the call or TBNT email?? This is where I'm at and just wondering if anyone else is too. Trying to make some sense out of all this waiting. I would probably feel more confident about getting the call if I knew that the emails already went out. If anyone has some info .. good or bad, I'll take it. At this point I just want to know one way or the other.
