I heard this from a 767 captain at Airways. There are two rumors as to why. Namely there are 3 delayed 330 deliveries in Europe and the leasing company gave*** US Airways substantially better leasing terms to keep the planes a bit longer.

Hard to say as PHX is not currently a basing option. It might become one once they are through with all the West recalls; sometime in the first half of 2014. However, by that point, assuming the merger gets approved this winter, this place is gonna be in full on merger mode. I can see that base shrinking and becoming very senior. But, who knows. I just wouldn't put this place at the top of your list to work at because of that base.
