I'm a regional FO (new hire), but I'm former military. I've got about 3700 hours total, and about 1400 PIC, all military. I took the regional job to get current after I retired from the Navy, in hopes that I can move on to something better in the not-too-distant future. Anybody know how much the military background helps with US? I applied but haven't gotten a call.

I have a very similar background and got hired. I have more total time than you, but otherwise, we're about the same. I got the impression there were good points to be scored for instructor type duties too. I had a military check airman qual. My interview partner was a regional Captain who had been an assistant chief pilot.

Good luck to everyone applying, quite the process nowadays isn't it.

I recently watched a documentary of sorts about Southwest. They couldn't find qualified pilots to apply when they were new the first few years. Ended up taking a bunch of guys leaving the military whilst nobody else wanted to work for them.

Point being, who wants to travel back in time?? Back to the days when Southwest would call you!!

For those on here in the know, do new hires normally get to go home on the weekends during training? I know we get a small break after week 2, but I'm unsure about week 1.

Rudder,

Thanks for the info. What were the assigned bases? Will future hiring be a mixed bag or are there certain bases that continue to show vacancies? Is CLT senior?

The 190 is only in PHL. Looks like the airbus went to DCA and CLT. The majority of the remaining spots will go to PHL 190 or DCA Airbus.

Have any first-time applicants from this last application window (who met the requirements) heard anything? Any interview offers or thanks but no thanks correspondance?
