BS... My buddy got hired recently from a regional FO position, with zero PIC turbine time. He has a family member with a very long and well respected history at US Airways. So you mean to tell me that had nothing to do with helping him get in the door with similar time to thousands of regional FO's?

So job fairs are useless then? Not trying to be a smart a$$, just on the fence about spending the money to go to one.

Well, it was good info from the horses mouth. However, idk if I'll spend another dime going to a job fair. I stood in a 1.5 hour line to talk to these folks and another 2.5 to speak to UCAL. Try it once and see what you think...results vary.

Sure have been following it. Out of the 10 guys I know that have been hired at Airways over the last year, all of them have been captains at regional carriers for several years except one... the friend with a senior captain dad. Coincidence?

1. If you're senior enough to know a lot of captains, then you know more captains than FOs.
2. Yeah, the people with the most qualifications will have an advantage. Captains tend to have more qualifications than FOs.
On average, I'm betting more FOs get hired than captains, but it certainly isn't unheard of.

Two biases in play here:

3. You are using wishful thinking that you being a regional FO will get a call based off of other FO's getting hired there?
I have zero idea where you are now and what you are flying... hell maybe at Airways. The only reason I state bias 3 is because I tend to notice a lot of hopeful guys begin to take a bit of truth and run with it as if it was the norm. If your bet of more FO's getting hired than captains is true, then I would be very pleased to know that is the actual trend of hiring.
