US Airways Calls
#221
I had about 8000 TT before I got my first hour of PIC turbine. Don't feel bad. We make the best choices that we can and hope that things turn out right.
Doesn't do any good to Monday morning quarterback.

Saab,
Maybe you should have stayed at colgan and gotten your PIC instead of jumping ship to another regional and pulling gear for 5+ yrs.
The wait for UA/DL/US is going to be a long one for the next couple years, unless you know someone. There are plenty of RJ CAs and heavy charter guys out there who look good on paper.
Anyways, I really do hope you get a call. I also submitted my app. I have an ATP and heavy intl time w an internal rec, but still no call. I think at this point they can afford to play the point system game until the supply dries out.
Good luck

Yeah, I don't regret Leaving Colgan, I knew the deal before leaving, however I just assumed by 6th year I would upgrade at XJT,lol. Being stuck at Colgan for these past couple of years would have killed me mentally, lol. The good news is I am 16 away and basically hold CA
The next class. I shouldn't complain too much, I've had 4 day weekends the past few years, could always be worse......

I'm starting to think you guys have too much total time and pic.
Most guys getting hired seems to have under 5k tt and under 1000 pic.
Maybe it has to do with age as well. I read that there was some study done for a few airlines that stated hiring pilots under the age of 32 with less than 1000 pic but more than 0 pic was the most efficient for their training.

Would getting typed in the EMB 145 as well as getting my ATP be looked upon as favorably as the initial within 5 years?
FWIW. I was talking to an Airways CA who asked when I went through initial, I mentioned 5 years and 6 months, he said I should answer yes being it was still within the calendar year, make sense? As in, it was within 5 years, once I hit the 6 years since initial it would be a no

These are tough times to be looking for a flying job period. I am military with all the hours req'ts, ATP, and a master's degree. No calls either.
