Gulfstream people couldn't upgrade quick since they didn't have the hours (3000 hours was required for upgrade). So, no... I wasn't a GIA lowlife. DL hasn't hired any prior GIA people (thankfully).

But, you know what, if you're making career progression, props to u brotha.
Why do you say I hated my last job? I didn't hate it. I liked the plane, the base, the schedule (I was only on reserve 2 months and lineholder since). My job, from a definition of flying an airplane/passengers safely from A to B, was an enjoyable one. My opinions on union decisions is a separate issue, and unions are usually not brought into the interview. I never lied, and I would not lie in an interview. I was honest with all my answers. The leave current employer question did not come up in the actual interview, it was in the questionaire email they sent.

As for leaving employer, I was honest. As best I recall, I wrote in the questionnaire that I enjoy my flying job at my current employer. I'm seeking a new opportunity that will challenge me and allow for continued professional growth. And somewhere in there I wrote that VX, as a new, different, and growing airline could provide me with the career goals I'm looking for.

That's straight up honest, you just have to be tactful/respectful in how you say it. Seeking a new opportunity that will challenge me and allow for continued professional growth = polite way of saying one is at a deadend regional with no upgrades, only displacements/furloughs and looking to move on.

There is a class starting today and I'm aware of 1 in March (that's what we were told in PHX).

BUT.. the extra $30,000 you would make first year at Delta vs USair should quite easily cover the difference... Just an observation.
I hear people compare USAir and DAL pay, but you cannot directly compair first year pay at Delta (or UAL) and US Airways unless you actually have a job offer at each company at the same time. Otherwise you're talking about something that does not and may never apply to you; a hypothetical insult and yes, pilots can be that egotistically sensitive.

The long term effect of first, second and third year pay are inconsequential when you consider the coming pay and seniority improvements coming to newAA. Recent hires already on the property (some more than others) are also getting a further offset of profit sharing, signing bonus and retro-pay (direct 401k contributions suggested for Tax offset).

There is a disparity in pay between DAL and US Air/AA, but there is also a HUGE disparity in retirements and potential international growth in Asia, Australia, Africa and Europe.

However, we won't ever know which major is best today until 20-25 years from now... Good luck to everyone!

Does anyone truly know if going to the WIA conference will greatly increases ones ability to get an interview? I've been told that there's no way around the 3rd party system and getting face time will only benefit you from a Q&A standpoint. Since I have several friends who fly for Airways I don't want to spend the money when I can just Q&A my friends for free.
