Not trying to be sarcastic, or rarget anyone in particular when I say this, but sometimes less is more when it comes to discussions. Not every lull in the conversation requires a rambling post.

I don't feel hurt, just tired of the same old same old that this group uses against anyone who doesn't agree with them. What's amazing is them really turning on their own. ACL Has been one of the staunchest supporters of this group but witness how now that he disagrees with them how less than courteous the posts become....Oh well, at least we know what we are dealing with.

I've put it in writing several places, but since you asked. I view the tone of this TA as conciliatory. For every "gain" we gave up something. In a case like this where the company came to us, you would expect more quid than quo (I think the phrase is quid por quo but Latin and I never got along).

The rates aren't industry leading no matter how you parse them (unless you use the ALPA method of ignoring SWA, FedEx and UPS). The rates are on par with the SWA 737 until you factor in the work rules and premium pay and figure they won't get any pay increases or profit sharing. I was hoping by starting this thread I would find some nugget to sway my vote. Believe it or not TSquared did provide that earlier today.

Bill, so tell me truthfully, are you receiving FPL or a management job for this? There are others on the L&G thread that are worried that you were attacked/inhabited by aliens but I think it might just be something less nefarious.

I think people are just stunned at the transformation. He was 110% pro-ALPA, and now he has done a 180. I admit I was the same the other way, but not as pronounced as ACL was. He was the guy saying "stay calm everyone, let the process work." Then, he turned a 180. And, he is the self pronounced "El Jefe." We all look up to him.

This has nothing to do with being pro-alpa. I do not want everyone
just to fall in line just because the MEC says it is good. From what I read, he was undecided until he really studied all the ramifications and came to a decision. The 5 reps that voted no are not anti-alpa either.

But even he admitted all he had was 100% speculation. Sounds like he is good at reading contracts, though. I hope the ALPA lawyers and professional negotiators are too. I am glad ACL is looking out for the group regardless.

I don't think ACL is anti ALPA, I think he is over analyzing this TA and with his long posts has way too much free time. In ACL's world the contract would be 10000 pages of closing loopholes and what if"s just in section 1. Just kidding ACL.

As far as the reps go, I bet all of them debated the merrits of the TA ad nauseum. Some reps may be following exactly what their constituents want, even if it is a minimum of 30% raise the first year. Sounds great, and the constituents wanted it, but not practical compared to any of our peers. But, that could have been why there was a no vote, it didn't hit the 30% the first year criteria. That doesn't mean the TA is bad, rather it didn't hit the threshold requested by their particular pilot group in the survey. They may NEVER be able to hit that request.
