If you don't like hearing comments from other airline pilots, don't hang out on a forum that is open to everybody.
We're working on improving our contract. We don't need you guys taking concessions during profitable times. That hurts the entire industry.

Dear The Manager. This was way too fun.
Please do not go into negotiations. You would suck at it.
Any offer is now off the table. You have nothing and the potential to never gain anything either. True, you still have what you had, but I hope you don't get thirsty in the meantime. I, on the other time can still go bet a bottle of Amarone, and even though it will cost me a little more, it is still better than plain old beer.
That is what is known as a "teaching moment" Anybody learn anything?

T! I thought you were done with this place?
We know better than that. You can't leave it cold turkey. It's an ego thing with you.
Bet: $100 and a case of beer of winners choice that you can not walk away and not come back until after the TA results are released.
Are you on or were you just talking out of your a$$?

ooooh $100 whole dollars and a case of beer? I am a wine drinker. Make it a$1000 and a case of Amarone (and a particular bottle that I an fond of that I can get in Rome) and you got a bet. Of course I will also bet $100 to the charitable fund that you won't show up when you lose that bet.
Put up or shut up.
And the bet has to be acknowledged by both of us before my absence takes effect.

I also know that I'd be no good at doing it here though.
We needed real professionals to do it to amtch Mike Campbell and RA and their posse. I think the results spreak for themselves.

I don't deny the importance of our contract at all. But I am not voting based on how it affects you.. sorry. Ergo I really couldn't care less what you think about our contract. (And I am surprised anyone else here does either) The disconnect I have with you is that this will better your pay by 40% so why would you object to it? Unless you think that is unobtainable at UAL, I would think you would be all over that. The scope portion of our agreement reigns in flying and increases the mainline portion of that flying. That is something you will have to do also. Is it that this agreement puts too much pressure on you? Are you afraid that we will have a second contract before you have your first? Any other reason is just not logical.
If this TA passes, what do you think will be the next "give" on scope for DAL?
That's the biggest flaw that I see. Unlimited CRJ-900's is the next target for management. I can hear you already..."hey, DCI already flies a ton of those...so we aren't really losing anything."
The incremental losses in scope are killing this profession. Management is playing a game of chess, thinking several moves ahead. We're just a bunch of idiots that keep getting distracted by carrots.
Doesn't it bug you to see that DC-9 size airplane parked at your gates with express pilots flying them?
I actually grew up in a DAL household. My dad was a DAL pilot hired in the 1960's. He made REALLY good money flying DC-9's for the mainline. Now that job is filled by a RJ pilot making peanuts.
We just keep giving it away.

I don't care about the pay rates if I don't have a job. Scope is the most important part of our new contract.
Agreed. So how can you say this is scope concession when mainline will be flying more and DCI will be flying less block hours while also eliminating approx. 1500 DCI pilot positions? Isn't bringing more flying to mainline protecting mainline jobs?

Possible cutbacks in the total amount of RJs or an increase in the block hour ratio. That's as likely as any give back.

Speculation. Any thing can happen in the future.

Show me the losses you speak of. DCI already flys the 76ers, we do not. How can we lose what we don't have? Now if you are talking bringing MORE jobs than the TA does back mainline by getting 76ers, I can agree with that.

I won't deny it, yes, it does.

I gotta say that you are not doing anything to help out the industry. Maybe if you guys could have actually negotiated a contract with higher pay rates and better work rules, we could be using that to piggy back on. Unfortunately, if we pass this TA, you will need to increase the pay rates by over 50% on Jan 1, 2015 and that is just to meet our rates.
Doesn't United scope currently allow for unlimited 70 seaters?
Talk about hurting the industry
