OH NO!!! They flew 11hrs! The worlds going to end! Please, I fly that much fairly regularly when returning on a 91 leg, heck I've flown as much as 15hrs in a day. The 125 company I used to work for could fly for 16hrs a day and often flew more than that if returning on a 91 leg. 135 is allowed 10hrs with 2 pilots I don't see why 121 should be any less.
As for extending duty days and flight time, I think the proponents are crazy and out of touch. In the name of safety and common sense, we should be working to reduce duty days and flight time, not increase them. Outside of aviation, hardly anyone works more than 9 or 10 hour days, yet aviators are expected to work as much as 16 hour days and be at the top of our game in the 16th hour.
It doesn't pass the basic common sense test.

It was right on the edge... I guess there are a bunch of reasons why I/We didnt.
Part of it was that MSY is only 45 minutes from IAH,
Part that there were so many people trying to go that have been sitting at the airport for hours,
Part of it that it looked like we were going to beat the weather into MSY
Part of it was that we didnt know that we were going to get hosed trying to get out of IAH while operations got their act together.
I was also flying with an outstanding Capt whom I trusted, and I knew that we collectively could get it done.
Sounds like the begining to one of those CRM class video tapes doesnt in.
Honestly its kinda hard to say NO to a plane full of desperate people who honestly are just happy to be leaving IAH. I speak with empathy because I am almost always happy to leave IAH!! I am a EWR kinda guy

What, is it some kind of badge of honor to press the duty limits everyday? Sounds like you are just the guy to join the JB koolaid crowd. If I block more than 30 hours in a month, I bid really poorly. Call me crazy, but I have no desire to max out the FAR limits each day/night.

But at the same time we did talk about the threats and we brief the possibility of a go-around and diversion. That and we didnt have that whole management pilot vs jack-a$$ FO. We worked pretty well as a team.

I find it quite humorous (to say the least) that Jetblue call themselves doing a fatigue study and then fires a FA that supposely fell asleep...how lame. I think this is the sign of times for the good ol' Jetblue to throw in the towel.
